Corner panel joints

Corner panel joints

Corner joints must be mechanically secured throughout (Figures 24-27) or machined with a special corner cutter and glued. (Fig. 28).

It is important to increase the bonding surface/reinforcement of the joint.
When using Fisher PA 4 M6 / 7,5 mm (Fig. 26) it is important to screw the stud deep enough to achieve a good pressing of the element: screwing depth min. 6 mm for PA 4 M6 / 7.5 mm.

Due to the very small thickness of the material, we recommend fastening with a through bolt or a through rivet (connecting rivets). The diameter of the drill bit must be larger than the diameter of the fastener rod (dimensional change). Accordingly, fastening bolts and rivets with larger heads and larger washers should be used.

When fastening with a bolt into a blind hole at right angles to the panel surface, consider the following (page 34):
Pre-drill diameter (D) = bolt diameter minus approx. 1 thread profile height.
Hole depth (a) = panel thickness minus approx. 1 to 1.5 mm.
Screw-in depth = hole depth minus 1 mm.
When fastening with the bolt parallel to the panel surface, note (page 35).

The residual thickness (b) of the FunderMax composite panel must be min. 3 mm.
The diameter of the hole parallel to the panel surface must be selected in such a way that the FunderMax composite panel does not split when the bolt is tightened.
Bolts for sheet iron and chipboard are suitable for fixing parallel to the panel surface.
For best reliability, a minimum hole depth of 25 mm is required.

Bolting parallel to the surface should be avoided for parts made of FunderMax composite panels.
In any case, the suitable hole diameter must be determined by experience.
If the drilled hole is too small in diameter, the edges of the hole must be drilled out.
To ensure that the bolt can be easily screwed in, it is convenient to use plastic-coated bolts.
The drilled hole should be cleaned.
Oil applied to the bolt makes it easier to screw in.
Hexagonal bolts are easier to screw in, so they are easier to “twist”.
When using Fisher PA 4 M6 / 7.5 mm connectors, it is important to screw the stud in deep enough - at least 6 mm - to achieve a good hold on the connector.
